At the commissioning ceremony in Hainan province, Xi Jinping personally toured the deck, reportedly taking in detailed briefings about the carrier’s performance at sea. State media even claimed it was Xi himself who made the call to adopt the electromagnetic launch system, a feature that places China in an elite naval club.
As sailors lined the deck and shouted in unison, “Follow the Party’s command, fight to win, and uphold fine conduct!” The message was clear: this isn’t just about military hardware, it’s about national pride, ambition, and the projection of power.
