‘Turn the Volume Up!’ Mamdani Fires Back at Trump in Fiery Victory Speech

New York City’s next mayor, Zohran Mamdani, delivered a defiant message to President Donald Trump on election night, daring him to “turn the volume up” after months of personal attacks.

Speaking to a packed crowd at the Brooklyn Paramount following his historic November 4th victory, Mamdani, a 34-year-old democratic socialist, hailed his win as a “mandate for change” and a rejection of Trump’s politics.

“If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him,” Mamdani declared. “And if there is any way to defeat a despot, it is by dismantling the very conditions that allowed him to accumulate power.”

Then came the four words that brought the crowd to its feet:

“So, Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, turn the volume up.”

Moments later, Trump appeared to respond in real time, posting on Truth Social:

“…AND SO IT BEGINS!”

Trump vs Mamdani: A Bitter Feud

The two have been locked in a war of words for months. Trump has repeatedly mocked Mamdani as a “communist” and “nut job,” even threatening to withhold federal funds from New York City under his leadership.

Mamdani, a state assemblyman and the first immigrant of Ugandan-Indian descent to win the city’s top job, made it clear the threats won’t stop him.

“We will hold landlords accountable because the Donald Trumps in our city have grown far too comfortable taking advantage of our tenants,” he said to roaring applause.

He added that his administration, which begins January 1st, would “stand alongside unions and expand labor protections,” saying,

“When working people have ironclad rights, the bosses who seek to extort them become very small indeed.”

‘Led by an Immigrant’

In one of the night’s most powerful moments, Mamdani declared that New York would continue to be a city “built by immigrants, powered by immigrants, and now, led by an immigrant.”

“So hear me, President Trump,” he said. “To get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.”

A Political Earthquake

Mamdani’s victory marks a major political upset, toppling former governor Andrew Cuomo, who finished second.

Quoting socialist leader Eugene Debs to open his speech, Mamdani told supporters they had “delivered a mandate for a new kind of politics, for a city we can afford, and a government that delivers exactly that.”

For Trump, the fight may have just begun. But for Mamdani, the message was clear, the volume is only getting louder.
