US Air Base in Bahrain ‘Destroyed’ in Iranian Drone and Missile Strike

An Iranian state-linked news agency has reported that a United States air base in Bahrain was destroyed in a large-scale drone and missile attack as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.

According to Fars News Agency, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the strike took place at dawn on Tuesday, 3 March, marking the fourth day of intensifying hostilities across the region.

Fars claimed the assault formed part of the “fourteenth wave of Operation True Promise 4”, alleging that IRGC forces targeted a US command and staff building at an air base in Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa region. The agency further stated that fuel tanks at the site were hit, causing explosions.

Video footage published by the outlet appears to show multiple rockets arcing across the early morning sky before detonating against distant targets. The reported damage has not been independently verified.

The latest claims follow joint strikes by Israel and the United States on several key Iranian sites on Saturday, 28 February. Iran has since retaliated with attacks at locations across the Middle East, widening fears of a broader regional conflict.

Earlier in the escalation, the US embassy in Saudi Arabia was reportedly struck by two drones.

Reports also indicated that smoke was seen rising from a US-operated naval base in Bahrain, though there has been no official confirmation from Washington regarding the extent of any damage.

The US State Department has instructed American citizens to leave Bahrain immediately, alongside several other countries in the region, as security concerns mount.

At the time of publication, the United States has not issued a formal response to the reported strike.
