Trump Weighs 10,000-Troop Middle East Surge as Iran Declares “One Million Fighters Ready”

The threat of a major confrontation in the Middle East has intensified dramatically, as reports reveal that Donald Trump is considering deploying up to 10,000 additional US troops to the region, a move that has triggered a fierce response from Tehran.

According to The Wall Street Journal, sources familiar with the discussions say the proposed military build-up is aimed at giving Washington “more military options” on the ground. The deployment would reportedly include infantry forces and heavy armoured vehicles, significantly strengthening the American presence.

If approved, these troops would join the 5,000 US Marines already stationed in the region, currently focused on securing key strategic sites.

Despite the show of force, the move is said to leave room, however narrow, for potential diplomatic talks with Iran, suggesting that Washington is attempting to balance pressure with negotiation.

Iran, however, has wasted no time in signalling its readiness to respond.

Tasnim News Agency, which is closely linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, quoted a senior military source claiming that preparations are already in place for large-scale ground conflict. According to the source, more than one million fighters have been organised and are ready for mobilisation.

The report also highlights a surge in volunteer enlistments, with large numbers of young Iranians reportedly joining the Basij militia, the Revolutionary Guard, and the national army in recent days, a sign of growing public mobilisation.

Meanwhile, tensions are rapidly escalating beyond land forces and into critical maritime territory.

Iran has issued a stark warning over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital oil shipping routes. A senior military source described any attempt by the United States to forcibly reopen the strait as a “suicidal act”, confirming that Iran is fully prepared to confront such a move and will ensure the waterway remains closed under all circumstances.

These developments underscore a rapidly deteriorating situation. The United States appears to be strengthening its military posture to shape either negotiations or conflict, while Iran is relying on mass mobilisation and strategic control of key maritime routes.

With global trade routes and regional stability now hanging in the balance, the world watches closely. The coming days will be critical, determining whether this escalating standoff tips into direct confrontation or pulls back from the edge.
